Read Hasan’s Story
Hasan and his family — wife, daughter, and son — fled Syria during its civil war. Turkey granted them Temporary Protection Status, but that status came with strings: the children could not go to school in Turkey’s schools and the family could never gain citizenship.. Hasan’s children were 5 and 7 at the time; this status consigned the children to a dire fate. The family remained in Turkey for 8 long years. Finally, the U.S. offered them resettlement.
The family arrived in the U.S. in 2024. Both children are now juniors in high school and on target to graduate in 2028, an amazing feat given they spoke no English when they arrived and they had not attended school in years. However, Hasan needs to find employment so he can take care of his family and ensure his children have a future.
Hasan has tremendous craftsmanship skills. He needs to find opportunities to prove those skills here. His English is limited, but his skills are universal. Hasan learned Turkish while living there. He’s confident he can learn sufficient English to succeed in projects here. .All the images on this web page come from projects he completed in Turkey. Smaller projects were solo ones; larger ones were ones where he served as a general contractor and hired/oversaw the workers. He is experienced in doing both design and installation work.
He has legal status in the United States; he has an Employment Authorization Document showing his eligibility to work.
Let us know if you can help Hasan find work.
