Our dollars primarily pay for these things:

• Food assistance! Passage of the “Big Beautiful Bill” cut off refugees’ eligibility for SNAP. Any immigrant here legally must have a Green Card to get SNAP benefits. It takes at least 2 years of living in the United States to get a Green Card after arriving as a refugee. Many refugees come from countries that are now on an “immigration ban” list, meaning acquisition of a Green Card is in question. Your donation helps us get grocery cards at Aldi, Walmart and Costco.

• Rent assistance - We bridge the gap between what a refugee’s income will pay toward their rent and what that rent actually is. This means we may subsidize up to $1,000/month for a single family’s rent.

• Transportation assistance - We may help fund car insurance for a new driver or fund IndyGo bus passes for families who haven’t yet been able to attain a car. Our goal is to enable families to get to work and to school.
